WIRED grant helps Ivy Tech provide advanced manufacturing courses to high school students
Tue. Apr. 8, 2008 - Lafayette - Two dozen high school students will attend Summer Middle Technical College on the Ivy Tech Community College campus thanks to the Indiana WIRED grant the college received in October 2007. The grant will cover the students’ cost of tuition, lab fees, and books, while the students attend one or two advanced manufacturing courses during a three week period in July.

A hydrogen cell vehicle will help high school students learn about alternative fuels during a program at Ivy Tech Community College.
Thu. Mar. 20, 2008 - Lafayette - Ivy Tech Community College will host Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day on April 4 at the Lafayette campus. Students in high school automotive programs and other interested students will have the opportunity to attend presentations by local automobile dealerships and learn about alternative fuel vehicles. Last year, over 170 students from seven area high schools attended the event.

Wed. Oct. 17, 2007 - Indianapolis - Ivy Tech Community College won 23 awards for its marketing efforts at the regional conference of the National Council of Marketing and Public Relations Professionals (NCMPR) held in Cincinnati on Monday.
Three gold medals, 11 silver medals and nine bronze medals were awarded to various campuses in the Ivy Tech Community College system. The marketing projects are all related to the college’s statewide marketing and branding campaign which launched in 2005 when Ivy Tech was named Indiana’s official community college system.

Mon. Sep. 10, 2007 - Indianapolis - The two institutions have recently signed additional agreements, bringing the total number of degree programs that will transfer from all Ivy Tech campuses to Purdue University to eight. This collaboration allows students to complete an associate degree at any Ivy Tech Community College campus and transfer to Purdue University-West Lafayette for the completion of a bachelor’s degree.

Mon. May. 14, 2007 - Lafayette - Ivy Tech Community College enrolled 13% more students during the spring 2007 semester compared to the spring 2006 semester, according to end-of-term figures released by the college. Students who took credit courses on the Lafayette and Crawfordsville campuses totaled 7,011. The statewide end-of-term headcount increased 6.6% to 77,883.

May. 3, 2007 - Indianpolis - The new two-year state budget approved by the state legislature provides a 6.4 percent increase in Ivy Tech Community College operating funds this year and a 6.0 percent increase next year. Ivy Tech winds up fundraising for Crawfordsville site and establishes scholarships.
Tue. Jan. 30, 2007 - Crawfordsville - Ivy Tech Community College announced the completion of a fundraising campaign for the relocation and renovation of the college’s Montgomery County Instructional Center (MCIC). A $25,000 grant from the Alcoa Foundation brought the total funds raised to $344,998 and helped the campaign exceed its goal by seven percent. The college will set aside $30,000 of the money raised to establish three endowed scholarships for Montgomery County residents.

Wed. Jan. 24, 2007 - Lafayette - Ivy Tech Community College reported a record 10-day spring enrollment count of 7,210 students which is 6.6% higher than enrollment during the spring 2006 semester. The enrollment figure is also the highest 10-day count of any previous semester. Full-time equivalent enrollment (total number of credit hours divided by 15) increased 5.7% for a total of 3,708.90.

Mon. Aug. 28, 2006 - Indianapolis - Ivy Tech Community College President Gerald I. Lamkin has been named a “Sagamore of the Wabash” by Governor Mitch Daniels.
The award, considered to be the highest honor an Indiana governor bestows, was made today (8/28) in conjunction with Lamkin’s announcement of his plans to step down as the college’s president on June 30, 2007. Governor Daniels is the fifth governor to recognize President Lamkin as a “Sagamore of the Wabash.”

Apr. 24, 2006 - Lafayette - Students in Ivy Tech Community College’s practical nursing program are helping Adult Protective Services recognize National Vulnerable Adult Abuse Prevention Month by hosting a Senior Safety Fair on the college campus. The fair will be held on May 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Lilly Rooms at Ivy Hall located on the college campus at 3101 S. Creasy Lane. The fair is free and open to the public. Apr. 18, 2006 - Lafayette - The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Ivy Tech Community College is participating in Project Graduation, a nation-wide initiative designed to help alleviate hunger and illiteracy in our community. Ivy Tech chosen for nationwide liberal arts study conducted by Wabash College
Wed. Feb. 15, 2006 - Lafayette - Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette has been chosen to participate in the Wabash National Study of Liberal Arts Education, sponsored and led by the Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts at Wabash College. Ivy Tech is one of 18 institutions selected from a nationwide pool of 60 applicants that included two and four-year institutions. Other Indiana institutions selected include Butler University and the University of Notre Dame. The study will explore how students in liberal arts studies develop during their college years and how key educational experiences contribute to their development. It is one of the most comprehensive national studies ever conducted of the effects of American higher education on student learning and development.

Fri. Nov. 25, 2005 - Lafayette - Molly Gillam, a junior at Lafayette Jefferson High School , is a recipient of the Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana Robotics Scholarship. Gillam was an active participant on her high school's Precision-Guessworks Team 1646 that competed in the 2005 Indiana Robotics Invitational.
